New Full Color Nook Released Today... does it compare to Kindle?

Did you see the new Nook?? Very stylish, full color... $249 and it only has WiFi!!! And full color... really??? I don't plan on reading kids' books on an e-reader... and pretty much all other books are black and white. So, why do you need full color? And that price with no 3G??? I think it's a stab to try to regain part of the Kindle market... don't think it's gonna' work!

Backups of your books

Although Amazon says you will "always" be able to re-download a purchased book, what about the books that we're sharing?

I did some searching on this, and came across Calibre (claibre-ebook.com), highly recommended by other users. I downloaded it and I love it! It's easy to use, and it will backup everything on your Kindle to your computer. That way, if you accidentally delete a book you've downloaded from a friend, you'll be able to retrieve it!

Calibre also converts ebooks into other formats - I haven't tried that yet.

Another Kindle Convert!

Our volunteer librarian at the school this year, Julie, was very interested in my Kindle when I talked about it. The next day in the mail, I looked at the back cover of the Newsweek magazine, lo and behold, there was the new Kindle - life size. So I cut it our and took it to school to show her... she taped it up on her refrigerator!! And last week her Kindle arrived!!! She loves it!!

I may have to make her an honory Lake DuBay Klub member!

New Members Needed!!

Don't forget to send me emails of our other Klub members so we can get them involved in our blog!

Welcome Charlotte

Charlotte reminded me that although I said she was a member of the Klub, I hadn't actually invited her into the Klub... picky, picky.

So, welcome Charlotte!

The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane

I got the book from Susan... I thought it would be a light in-between read... BUT, it's actually a bit of page-turner - hard to put down! Goes back and forth between 1991 Boston and the Salem witch trial era. It's not a real 'deep' book, but it is good!
