Although Amazon says you will "always" be able to re-download a purchased book, what about the books that we're sharing?
I did some searching on this, and came across Calibre (claibre-ebook.com), highly recommended by other users. I downloaded it and I love it! It's easy to use, and it will backup everything on your Kindle to your computer. That way, if you accidentally delete a book you've downloaded from a friend, you'll be able to retrieve it!
Calibre also converts ebooks into other formats - I haven't tried that yet.
Someone asked about the new Kindle compared to the old. Actually, Frank and I took our Kindles to Lake du Bay a couple of weeks ago and Barb did the best comparison. We do think the new one is easier to read. There is less white space on the page edges so if you pull up a page on both Kindles, the new one has more print on the page -- so less page turns. The device itself is gray and seems to blend better with the print than the white edges. There is also a "Previous Page" button on both sides of the Kindle which is nice.
ReplyDeleteWe are in Oklahoma with the grandchildren -- going to football games and basically running children around while their parents play in Hawaii. Our son-in-law has a consulting stint in Honolulu and Lauren flew out to enjoy a few days there, basically the moment we arrived on Saturday am. Her flight was leaving from the same gate where we arrived.
All is well -- but crazy busy with a house full of teenagers!
